For years, IC Net has been working in the Solomon Islands to assist in the resources management and livelihood improvement of its community members in the fisheries sector. The Tairo Bay community, Guadalcanal, a program called the Community-based Resource Management (CBRM) is underway since 2017 with the cooperation of the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources (MFMR). The community organized a Tiaro Marine Conservation Committee to strengthen conservation activities for marine resources in/around the bay areas.
IC Net’s Senior Expert Mr. Iinuma has been providing technical assistance to the community and has launched several pilot programs that involve community-based life skills improvement and resources management. The Solomon Islands CBRM project has been IC Net’s strength as it has been providing technical assistance to Vanuatu, a neighboring country for years.
